About Us 
Bill’s Seafood Market was founded in January 1981 by JoePeed, whose mission was to provide fresh, local, wild caught seafood to the local community, as well as seasonal tourists and homeowners.  Since the humble beginnings of the market almost 40 years ago, we have added beer and wine, bait and tackle, coastal gifts and décor, apparel, jewelry, kids toys and books, and, with a recent change in ownership, a carry-out lunch menu, among many other items.  As a team member, you will become an important and valued member of a fast-paced team that offers up the best fresh, local, wild caught seafood from Myrtle Beach to Wilmington, and you will be recognized for your ongoing contributions to our success. 

About You 
We are looking for positive, friendly people who are focused on the needs and happiness of our customers. You will provide support as a member of the fresh seafood market team to include duties related to counter service, preparing and stocking fresh seafood, and sanitation in the seafood department. You will be cross trained in many areas of operations within the market, and opportunities to grow abound as our organization grows.  This position operates under the direction of the Market Manager and/or Assistant Market Manager.  You must greet our guests with a smile, receiving orders, make recommendations, and respond appropriately to customer issues. We expect that you will ensure a positive company image by providing courteous, friendly, and efficient service to our customers and your fellow team members at all times.  The SeafoodMarket Clerk is considered the first interaction the guest will have with the Bill’s Seafood Market brand, and it must always be a positive one. This position requires the team member to be able to communicate in a positive manner with customers, peers, and managers. 

Position Tasks 
Ensure a fresh and appealing seafood display by checking quality, keeping cases and shelves clean and well stocked, rotating product, filling ice tables, and performing other duties as assigned.Opening / closing duties as assigned for your shift. Maintain accurate department signage and pricing. Maintain back stock in good order in our walk-in cooler.Weekly cleaning of the walk-in cooler.Maintain a safe, clean and well-organized working and shopping environment.Assist with sampling program, keeping sample areas full, clean and appealing.Clean cases, glass, signs, uprights, coolers, steamers, floors, oyster washer, and drains as required.Skin, de-bone, and clean fish; head, peel, and devein shrimp. Assist with periodic inventory checks.Arrive to work station on time, appropriately groomed, dressed and ready to work; work all scheduled shifts and attend required trainings and meetings.Provide excellent customer service, address needs of customers in a timely and effective manner, and model suggestive selling techniques; answer phones and pages (if assigned) promptly and courteously.Maximize sales potential through effective and proper procedures for prepping, storing, rotating, stocking, and merchandising product. Follow and comply, or ensure compliance, with established procedures, including Weights and Measures, health and sanitation, and safe work practices.Maintain, or ensure maintenance of, a clean and sanitary working and shopping environment; maintain our equipment in accordance with cleanliness and safety standards as directed by management and owners.Immediately report safety hazards and violations to shift manager. Performs other duties as assigned. 

Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities 
Experience is strongly preferred, but we will train the right candidate(s).  We pride ourselves on a very strong training and mentorship / apprenticeship program and instilling the skills to grow with our organization for the long term.  Pay is commensurate with experience, skills, and ability. Applicants who can cut fresh, whole fish efficiently, minimizing waste / maximizing usable filets, and with clean cuts to enhance merchandising and presentation for our customers will receive above market pay.A minimum of 2 years working in a seafood market dealing with fresh seafood, including shellfish and whole fish requiring cutting, cleaning, processing, and presentation is highly preferred.Must be at least 16 years old or be at least 14 years old with reliable transportation to and from the market.You must be able to work in a fast-paced environment with our team.Ability to interact positively and in a friendly manner with our customers and sell proactively, including alternatives and new seafood offerings. Ability to learn basic knowledge of all seafood and other products offered in our market, including our proprietary house made soups, sauces, salad dressings, pies, and prepared seafood selections.Ability to visually examine products for quality and freshness. Assist with periodic inventory checks.Excellent communication skills and willingness to work aspart of a team.Ability to deliver information in a clear and respectful manner to fellow Team Members, customers, and vendors. Ability to meet customer service expectations and standards in all interactions with customers, vendors, and Team Members. Ability to follow directions and procedures; effective time management and organization skills.Passion for fresh, local, wild caught seafood and other natural and/or organic foods and the mission of Bill’s Seafood Market.Strong work ethic and ability to work in a fast-paced environment with a sense of urgency.Understanding of and compliance with Bill’s Seafood Market quality goals.Will be required to stand / walk entire shift. Ability to work a flexible schedule including mornings, nights (until 8:00 p.m.), weekends, and holidays as needed.
